Fatwood
The Fire Source
Simply nature's best fire starter.
Fatwood Firestarter consists of two parts: pinewood and the resin created in that very tree; It's 100% all-natural. As the tree matures, this natural resin moves downward, collecting in the stump.
Because Fatwood is 100% all-natural with no chemicals or petroleum additives, there's no chemical taste added to your grilled foods. Use Fatwood Firestarter with a quality product like our 100% all Natural Lump Charcoal and you can cook knowing that no harmful chemicals or toxins are released into your food.
WHAT IS FATWOOD?
Born from the wood of old pine stumps left for waste after logging, it is made from splitting the stumps of pine trees that contain a high concentration of natural resin. As the stumpwood hardens over time, the resin or sap concentrates to create an all-natural, 100% organic, chemical-free fire starter.

WHY IT WORKS
Secret of Fatwood is the higher concentration of resin found in our trees. It is this organic resin that gives our Fatwood Firestarter its sustained flame and easy lighting ability. With these higher concentrations of resin, we don't need to add propellants or chemicals like the other guys because we don't need them. How many other fire starters can claim that?

HISTORY.
Fadwood, also known as "fatlighter", "lighter wood", "rich lighter", "pine knot",[1] "lighter knot", "heart pine" or "lighter'd" "Firesticks" "Firestarter", is derived from the heartwood of pine trees. The stump (and tap root) that is left in the ground after a tree has fallen or has been cut is the primary source of fatwood, as the resin-impregnated heartwood becomes hard and rot-resistant over time after the death of the main tree. Other locations, such as the joints where limbs intersect the trunk, can also be harvested. Although most resinous pines can produce fatwood, in Mediterranean,Anatolia and southeastern United States the wood is commonly associated with longleaf pine (Pinus palustris), which historically was highly valued for its high pitch production.
